//NOTE: I don’t know how to make spaces in between sorry.
A sudden sound interrupts your dreamy state of morning. You open your eyes slightly and see your shades gradually opening letting the sun’s rays remind you of a new day. After you come to your senses you realize the bedroom speakers are playing your favorite song.
You get out of bed and drift to the kitchen. On the way there you pass your entertainment room and find that your TV is playing the local morning news. Now in the kitchen you decide to get a morning coffee and breakfast. Upon leaving your home you take out your phone and with the tap of a button you hear the satisfying sound of the TV turning off, doors and windows clicking in the lock position, then finally the shades closing.
Once satisfied with food in your belly and coffee in your system, you decide to drive back home to resume your gaming. On the way back you realize it’s going to be hot, so you take out your phone and turn on the AC back at home. When you arrive home to a cool environment, a movie sounds more fitting than a gaming session. You walk to your home theater, activate your favorite scene, and start going through your Roku without fumbling with several remotes. Once you find a suitable pick you select another scene which turns off the lights closes your once again opened shades, and switches your amplifier to perfect movie sound.
I can continue with more of what you can do, but let’s get to how you can do it. You’ve heard of smart homes on TV commercials or the web but are you confused on how you can bring those technologies into your own home? In the demonstration above I listed some specific things you can automate. In order to make that possible you need to have a program to tie all of those together into a user friendly, every day use application. For that I would recommend Control 4. What is Control 4? It is a complete home automation program. This baby hooks up to your audio visual systems, security systems, air conditioning, windows, and lights.
Customize your home to your ultimate preferences.
Now how exactly do you control this magical program integrated into every part in your home? You can control it anywhere whether it’s from your smart device, a specialized Control 4 tablet, or on a screen which you can install in the wall. One could even have a personal Control 4 control panel on their TV. So much control right?
Control from all your devices.
The possibilities are endless. You can create your own “scenes” which are preset settings for your rooms. For example I could name a scene “Movie Night” and once I select the scene in my handy dandy Control 4 app it automatically turns off the lights, then proceeds to boot up my TV, Roku, and stereo system. Even so, your control is not limited to scenes, you can control lights by the percentile, use your Control 4 as a universal remote, view your IP cameras, and control many other things through a simple GUI software.
So how do you get Control 4? Well first off you need devices compatible with their systems first. Don’t worry the list is vast and if you want to see what works click here. If it’s a big name brand, they’ve got it. All of these companies listed on the link before have products that you can use with Control 4. From this point on you can either install Control 4 by yourself by doing a bit of research or you can find a retailer on their website (http://www.control4.com) to buy it from. These retailers will provide installations and new products like TV systems if you’re looking for an upgrade.
The home automation market is an expensive place to invest in for your home. Technology will no longer buffer your entertainment with tedious tasks to control your devices. You will have the power to shape it all around your lifestyle with Control 4.
