So, Mafia 3 was announced last week. I’m pretty sure there weren’t a lot of people out there that were as happy about that as I was. Honestly, I don’t know too many gamers that gave the game a chance. I did, and it was amazing. I adored that game, although I got stuck on the last mission for so long that there were weeks of cursing and wanting to launch the controller through the TV. I didn’t, for the record. I’m a grown-up. And I didn’t have the money to replace it. Moving on.
The game was very well done, beautifully designed and the story was completely engaging, so knowing that they are coming back to make a Mafia 3 made me immediately put this one on my list to get. But here’s the thing: there wasn’t a lot of information release. At least not yet.
2K has stated that the official tell all the things announcement will be on August 5th. In the mean time, we know that it’s coming and that there is a teaser image:
The problem with Mafia 2, or rather, the problem with people playing Mafia 2 was that they expected the game to be some sort of GTA clone set in the 50s. Yes, it was rather open world, but not as open as GTA. There weren’t hours and hours of other random stuff to do that had nothing to do with the main storyline. There was a solid story with great character development and engagement of the player. And you could randomly drive around the city and take on some side mission occasionally.
Anyway, the point being, if you didn’t give Mafia 2 a chance or you did but you were expecting it to be something that it wasn’t supposed to be in the first place, now would be a great time to try again. And Mafia 3 is coming. I can not WAIT to see who gets to sleep with the fishes this go-round.
